Hello,
I'm trying to simulate the strain that is developed due to lattice mismatch in a core/shell structure, where a shell of one material is epitaxially grown on a sphere of another material, with a small lattice mismatch between the two. I use COMSOL 5.0 and the Structural Mechanics Module for it.
How can I simulate the lattices of the two semiconductor materials and the displacements that are caused by the mismatch?
I found a thesis (see attached, chapter 2.8.2, page 41-46, step 2-4c) where a similar simulation is preformed (for a more complex geometry).
There are a few things described there, which I don't know how to do:
1. How can I define 10-node quadratic tetrahedron elements for the mesh?
2. Anisotropic elastic stiffness matrix and lattice constants are defined as inputs to the calculations. How can I define those inputs in the software? How are they being used in the module?
I'd really appreciate any guidance.
Thank you,
Anna
